Choose the right heat plant for the site
Every site asks for something different. A factory in Boksburg with constant hot water demand will not need the same arrangement as a lodge in Mpumalanga, a hospital laundry in Pretoria, or a food plant in Germiston with peak shifts and strict hygiene control. We look at output, fuel supply, available space, flue route, water quality, access for maintenance and the hours you expect the plant to run.
The right unit is not only about size. It is also about how quickly it starts, how it handles load changes during load-shedding, and whether your team can service it without stripping half the plantroom. If access is poor or the water is hard, the equipment must be set up with that in mind from day one.
Boilers for commercial and industrial duty
We supply and support boilers for heating, process work and hot water generation. Some sites need steady base load, while others need a unit that can come on quickly after shutdowns or match sudden shifts in demand. Our team works on new installs, replacements and plant upgrades where the old arrangement has become expensive to run.
- Site surveys for replacement and new plantrooms
- Boiler repairs, re-tubing support and planned servicing
- Combustion tuning for cleaner, more controlled operation
- Annual inspections and shutdown planning
On older plants, small faults often become big costs. A set of poor readings, blocked strainers, or scale build-up can push fuel use up and shorten equipment life. We check the complete system, not only the boiler shell.
Calorifiers for reliable hot water supply
Calorifiers suit sites that need stored hot water with dependable recovery, such as hotels, nursing facilities, gyms, schools and factory wash bays. We size and maintain calorifiers around demand pattern, inlet temperature and the quality of the feed water. In coastal humidity or hard-water areas, the service intervals matter just as much as the vessel size.
Good access for cleaning, valve checks and sacrificial component replacement saves time later. We also help with plantroom layouts where the vessel is tight against a wall or where maintenance teams need safe working space. That sort of detail is often what keeps downtime down.
Inline heaters for process lines and compact spaces
Inline heaters are useful where there is limited floor area or where heat is needed directly on a line. These units are often chosen for compact systems, wash processes and specific temperature control jobs. The important part is matching the heater to the flow rate, control method and maintenance access, because a unit that is awkward to reach soon becomes a problem.
We repair and maintain inline heaters for sites that cannot afford long stoppages. If a production line or wash system is waiting on heat, the pressure is on and the fix must be practical. We work with plant managers, artisans and contractors to get the system back into service with as little disruption as possible.
Incinerators and heat plant compliance
Incinerators need careful operation, proper servicing and attention to refractory condition, burner performance and flue handling. We support sites that rely on controlled waste disposal and need the plant to run safely within site rules and municipal requirements. If the chamber, lining or combustion settings are not right, the equipment will show it quickly in poor performance or excessive wear.
We handle routine servicing, fault tracing and refractory relining when the lining starts to break down. For many sites, the real value is in keeping the plant ready for inspection and avoiding unplanned downtime during busy periods or shutdown windows.
Support across Gauteng and beyond
Ai-TEC is based in Jet Park, Boksburg, with service teams covering Gauteng and travelling nationally where the job calls for it. We regularly support sites in Boksburg, Kempton Park, Germiston, Pretoria, Midrand and Sandton, and we plan callouts with local traffic, access control and shift work in mind. That saves time when a plantroom cannot wait until next week.
- Emergency callouts and fault finding
- Water treatment support for scaling and corrosion control
- Plant refurbishment and phased replacement work
- Maintenance planning around shutdowns and public holidays
Where sites are exposed to dust, coastal air or unstable power, we adjust the maintenance approach accordingly. A plant that runs near the coast may need a different inspection cycle than one inland, and a site with frequent outages needs a different start-up plan after every interruption. Small details count.
How to start the conversation
Send us the plant type, the site location, the duty hours and any photos of the current setup. If you have boiler or calorifier data plates, water test results, fault history or a list of recurring issues, include those too. The more accurate the information, the faster we can advise on repair, replacement or a maintenance plan.
Ai-TEC has been working with commercial and industrial heat plant since 2009. Our focus is practical equipment, proper service and advice that suits the site, not just the brochure. If the system needs attention, we will help you get it back into working order and keep it there.
