Steam Boilers

Ai-TEC supplies packaged steam boilers for process heating, washdown, sterilising and production support in factories, kitchens and plant rooms. From our Jet Park, Boksburg base we support Gauteng and send service teams nationally for installation, maintenance and fault finding.

Packaged Steam Boilers Built for Daily Plant Work

Steam boilers are used where hot water alone is not enough. They produce steam for heat transfer, product cleaning, sterilising, jacketed vessels, drying lines and general production support. Ai-TEC supplies packaged steam boiler sets for commercial and industrial sites that need steady output and practical service access, not complicated kit that is hard to keep running.

Our units are selected around your load, steam demand and utility supply. In Gauteng we often fit boiler plant into bakeries, laundries, food plants, abattoirs, hospitals, chemical process areas and workshops. Along the coast we also look closely at corrosion, humidity and salt air, especially where pipework, controls and casings need better protection.

Sizes, Pressure Ratings and Control Options

Steam boiler sizing starts with the amount of steam you need per hour, the pressure required at the point of use and the hours of operation. Small packaged units suit light process work and intermittent washdown, while larger boiler plants are used for continuous production and multiple steam users. We supply systems that can be matched to single line needs or arranged as duty and standby sets for higher availability.

  • Steam output matched to your duty, from smaller plant rooms to higher demand process lines
  • Working pressures selected for process heating, sterilising and washdown applications
  • Control options for manual, semi automatic or automatic operation
  • Single burner or multi burner arrangements depending on fuel and demand profile
  • Skid mounted packages for quicker installation and cleaner plant room layout

Typical package sizes range from compact units for light industrial use to larger boilers suited to round the clock production. If your site has future expansion planned, it is worth allowing a little extra capacity now rather than squeezing the boiler to the limit later. That usually saves money on changes to pipework, vents and controls.

Where Steam Boilers Fit Best

Steam boilers are a good fit where temperature control, fast heat recovery and a dry heat source are needed. They are commonly used for washdown in food and beverage sites, jacketed heating on process vessels, laundries, packing lines, sterilising duties and certain cleaning systems. For production sites, steam can also support humidification and general thermal processing when the plant layout is planned properly.

Sites with unreliable power, load shedding or older electrical infrastructure often move toward fuel fired boiler solutions so that production can continue without depending fully on large electric heating loads. We assess the available services on site before recommending a layout, because the wrong choice can leave you with pressure loss, slow start up or a boiler that is too costly to run.

  • Food preparation and processing plants
  • Laundries and textile facilities
  • Hospitals, clinics and sterilising areas
  • Industrial washdown and sanitation points
  • Factories needing steady process heat

Installation, Fuel Supply and Plant Requirements

Steam boiler installation needs more than the boiler itself. You need space for safe access, venting, blowdown, feedwater treatment, controls and maintenance access around the shell and burner. Our projects team checks floor loading, doorway clearances, flue routing and service positions before equipment is brought in. In tight plant rooms, a neat layout makes a big difference later when the unit needs inspection or tube cleaning.

Fuel and power needs depend on the boiler size and firing method. Gas fired systems need correct gas pressure, isolation valves, ventilation and compliant pipework. Fuel oil systems need storage, filtration and proper handling. Electrically assisted controls, pumps and safety gear need stable supply and protection against poor voltage conditions. Where supply is weak, we can plan for controls that recover properly after outages and do not leave the plant locked out after a power failure.

  • Check floor space and access for delivery and future maintenance
  • Confirm fuel availability, pressure and storage on site
  • Allow for feedwater treatment and blowdown discharge
  • Plan flue routing and ventilation before installation starts
  • Make sure electrical supply and backup arrangements suit the load

Care, Servicing and Boiler Life

A steam boiler will only perform well if water quality, combustion and routine inspection are kept in order. Scale build up on the water side reduces heat transfer and pushes fuel use higher. Poor combustion increases smoke, soot and tube fouling. Low water events and ignored safety devices can lead to shutdowns that stop production at the worst time. Regular servicing is not a nice extra, it is basic protection for the plant.

Ai-TEC handles boiler servicing, combustion tuning, water treatment support, annual inspections and plant refurbishment. We also support emergency callouts when a unit trips after hours or during a production run. For sites in Boksburg, Kempton Park, Germiston, Pretoria, Midrand and Sandton, our teams can respond quickly, and for other provinces we schedule based on plant urgency and access.

  • Daily checks on water level, pressure and leaks
  • Weekly blowdown and safety device tests where applicable
  • Routine combustion checks to keep fuel use under control
  • Water treatment monitoring to reduce scale and corrosion
  • Annual inspections and planned shutdown maintenance

What to Check Before You Order

Before ordering a steam boiler, gather the real site details. We need the duty profile, steam pressure required, operating hours, available fuel, water quality and any special product or hygiene requirements. If the boiler is feeding more than one process, list each user and how often it runs. That helps us size the plant properly instead of guessing from peak demand alone.

It also helps to know whether the boiler must fit through a narrow door, into a roof plant area or beside existing tanks and pipe racks. If you are replacing old equipment, take photos of the current installation and note where the current problems are. Many clients discover the old boiler was oversized, or the water treatment was ignored and the tubes suffered for it. A proper check up front avoids those issues repeating on the next unit.

  • Required steam output and working pressure
  • Fuel type available on site
  • Water quality and treatment arrangements
  • Installation space, access points and flue route
  • Any hygiene, sterilising or production compliance needs

What clients say

Questions we get asked

What is a packaged steam boiler?

It is a complete boiler set supplied as a working unit, usually with burner, controls and safety fittings arranged for industrial steam duty.

Can you help with boiler sizing?

Yes. We size it from your steam demand, pressure needs, operating hours and fuel supply so the unit suits the site instead of running at the limit.

Do you service boilers after installation?

Yes. We handle servicing, combustion tuning, annual inspections, water treatment support and emergency repairs for sites in Gauteng and beyond.
